The Importance of GVM Upgrades

Modern 4×4 utes are well suited to the work and recreational roles that owners purchase them for. However, many vehicle owners are unaware that they are exceeding their vehicle’s rated load-carrying capacity. Operating a vehicle with an exceeded load is illegal and a serious road safety concern.

Our 6wheeler conversions offer a GVM (Gross Vehicle Mass) rating of 4500 Kg and an increased GCM (Gross Combined Mass) rating of up to 7300 Kg. Increasing the GMV and GCM rating is more than adequate for most tradespeople – while still allowing the vehicle to be operated on a standard driver’s license.

WHY CONSIDER A GVM UPGRADE?

The usable payload of many 4×4 vehicles today is minimal. Adding some essential vehicle accessories,  two or three adult passengers, and a modest toolbox can bring a ute close to, if not over, its maximum legal weight. Maximum legal weight is also known as the rated Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM), and operating a vehicle while exceeding this is illegal.

Since it is easy to reach the maximum GVM, it is crucial always to be aware of your weight and the rated GVM. Upgrading your GVM will prevent you from unintentionally passing your maximum weight limit – keeping you and your passengers safe.
